First released in Japan on August 30, 1987, Capcom’s Street Fighter series “has had total home software sales of 31 million units, and arcade cabinet sales of over 500,000 units accounting for more than $1 billion in revenue, qualifying for the list of best-selling video game franchises, with its best-selling entry Street Fighter II exceeding $1.5 billion in revenue.” This is where inspiration for the Ken and Ryu characters really came from, or so we’d like to think.
