Startup Wingcopter teamed up with the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) to offer a grocery delivery service using a drone and electric cargo bikes. Residents in Rehbach and Würzberg are able to order everyday goods including non-perishable milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables, canned food and other non-refrigerated products via a website.
After ordering, the products are flown in by Wingcopter to set landing points just outside of the villages, from where they are transported to the end customers by a human on a Riese & Müller electric cargo bike. This project is set to run until the end of 2023 and will continue if it proves successful.
