Have you ever come across an insect that can’t be found in Wikipedia? Well, the translucent jewel caterpillar is one of them. At first glance, this may look like a computer-generated render, but this caterpillar really does feature a glass-like shell, with tiny mushrooms seemingly growing in each of the spikes / pods. Photographer Gerardo Aizpuru spotted this beautiful creature on a mangrove tree leaf on April 7, 2012. Aizpuru says that he can’t “believe there is some species like this around the world. looks like made of glass whit small red mushroom inside every pic. about 3 cm long.”
