1993 IBM ThinkPad Tablet Restoration 730T DOOM
Before the CrossPad, there was this IBM ThinkPad tablet from 1993. Called the 730T, it featured a 9.5″ monochrome supertwisted nematic (STN) VGA LCD screen with a 640 x 480 resolution, which isn’t ideal for gaming to say the least, especially DOOM.

It also came equipped with an Intel 80486SL processor running at 33 MHz and 8MB of RAM, all in a 3.9-pound package. This particular specimen that PolyMatt decided to restore was in junkyard shape, with a cracked LCD and a very dirty case. Thanks to 3D-printing, the case was easily taken care of, but the LCD had to be swapped with a similar one made by Sharp.

1993 IBM ThinkPad Tablet Restoration DOOM

Sheer Brilliance, the finesse in your work is literally out of the world, I don’t think that even if IBM would have tried to restore this, they would have done this level of justice with it,” said one commenter.
