1X Technologies’ EVE humanoid robot has received an AI upgrade, enabling it to understand voice commands and perform tasks autonomously, without teleoperation. This means an operating won’t have to rely on VR to control a single robot, but can instead direct multiple robots with high level language.
Technically speaking, rather than build a a voice-controlled natural language interface, operators can now chain short-horizon capabilities across multiple small models into longer ones. When single-task models are merged into goal-conditioned models, AI can be used to automate high-level actions.

From the user perspective, the robot is capable of doing many natural language tasks and the actual number of models controlling the robot is abstracted away. This allows us to merge the single-task models into goal-conditioned models over time,” said Eric Jang, Vice President of AI, 1X Technologies.
