2026 Subaru Uncharted EV Production
Subaru has just revealed more information about its 2026 Uncharted EV, a compact crossover that will join the electric lineup. Pricing starts at less than $35,000, with deliveries beginning in early 2026. You’ll be able to choose between three trim levels: the base Premium with front-wheel drive, the mid-level Sport with all-wheel drive, and the top GT, which also has all-wheel drive.

The EPA has yet to certify the actual range data, however Subaru estimates that the Premium will go approximately 300 miles on a single charge, while the Sport will travel 285 and the GT will travel approximately 270. A 74.7-kWh battery powers the entire range, along with a single-speed transmission that they claim will provide a pleasant driving experience. The Premium’s single front motor produces 221 horsepower, which is sufficient for everyday driving; however, upgrading to the Sport or GT adds dual motors that produce 338 horsepower via Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, complete with X-Mode for slippery conditions.

Buyers are in for a relatively simple decision, since the standard Premium FWD starts at $34,995 plus a $1,450 delivery charge, which can rise to $1,600 in regions like Alaska. Sports variants cost $39,795 before any additional levies, while the highest GT model costs $43,795. You also have a nice selection of colors to choose from: Coastal Wolf Gray Metallic, Habanero Orange Metallic, Cosmic White Pearl, Astro Black Mica, and Metropolis Gray, with premium colors adding $475 and two-tone paintwork on the GT costing an additional $970. Built in Japan, the Uncharted is made of high-strength steel and is seven inches shorter than Subaru’s current Solterra EV, yet it still has over 25 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Its small turning radius (acquired from the Crosstrek) makes zipping through city streets feel effortless, and its aerodynamic improvements should help enhance that range estimate.

A standard NACS connector handles charging, allowing you to connect to over 25,000 Tesla Superchargers located throughout the United States. You should be able to obtain a 10-80% charge in approximately 28 minutes at up to 150kW, and they even have battery pre-conditioning built in to help things operate smoothly in cold weather. For home charging, you have an 11-kW onboard charger to keep you going overnight. The Premium model features 18-inch alloy wheels with a gloss black finish, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and a power liftgate. Roof rails are added to the Sport model to increase carrying capacity, while the GT model receives 20-inch gunmetal alloys and a panoramic glass roof with a motorized shade.

Inside the cabin, usability comes first. A 14-inch touchscreen in the center of the Subaru Multimedia system controls wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and is combined with a 7-inch digital gauge cluster. You can use dual zone climate control or a rotary shifter to save up space in the console. Premium variants seat five in fabric, but the motorized driver’s chair makes it easy to get comfy, even with heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Up front, there are two wireless chargers, as well as a slew of USB-C connections and a 120-volt outlet for whatever devices you may have. You can choose the mood with ambient lighting, and because the automobile is technologically advanced, you can simply unlock the doors with your phone. Six speakers will fill the room with sound, and the all-weather package includes heated mirrors and a wiper de-icer.

Higher trims simply take what you have and run with it. Sport models replace the cloth with sturdier StarTex upholstery, include an 8-way power passenger seat with driver memory, and even heat up the steering wheel. You also get a 360-degree surround-view camera, as well as Lane Change Assist and Traffic Jam Assist, which make highway driving easier. Then there’s the GT, which takes things to the next level with ventilated front seats, heated back seats, and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon system that transforms driving into a concert. There’s also a smart rearview mirror with HomeLink, allowing you to operate your garage, and you can change the seats with voice commands on the go. Driver distraction is also eliminated, because technology nudges you back on track if you begin to drift.

Safety is weaved into everything, yet it isn’t overly ostentatious. Subaru’s EyeSight package comes standard and includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. There are also front and rear cross-traffic alarms, emergency steering, and even road sign recognition to keep you attentive. Proactive Driving Assist smoothes down any rough edges in your driving, while Safe Exit Assist pauses the doors if traffic approaches. The Sport and GT trims add a surround view monitor and several other safety features, ensuring that the Uncharted can handle itself even in turmoil.
