It’s only a matter of time before robots take over just about every industry, even tattooing. T-Mobile Netherlands wanted to show just how fast its 5G network is, so they built a robotic arm to complete the world’s first remote tattoo. The video features Dutch actress and TV personality Stijn Fransen, but before the robotic arm was put to work, the team tested it on vegetables as well as fake skin.
Tattoo artist Thomas then takes his needle and prods a mannequin arm, which translates to movement on the robotic arm that then tattoos Fransen’s forearm remotely and in real-time. As you can see there was nearly zero latency between the tattoo artist inking the mannequin arm and sending that information to the robotic arm working on Fransen.
