The HUUVER (Hybrid UAV-UGV for Efficient Relocation of Vessels) drone is unlike any other on the market today, as it combines tank treads with a flying machine. It’s touted as the first drone with a fully integrated Galileo navigation system and the tank treads enable it to travel for around 10-hours on the ground, drawing power from a heavy duty lithium-ion battery. When it’s time to fly, its eight horizontal propellers can keep it in the air for up to 20-minutes.
You can pilot HUUVER remotely in real-time, thanks to its integrated Sony 4K optical and FLIR thermal imaging cameras. Or, activate the Galileo navigation system, and it can fly autonomously, with a Velodyne Puck LITE LiDAR sensor helping HUUVER avoid obstacles. Unfortunately, the prototype is still in the research and development phase, with no word yet on a production model.

HUUVER is going to be a drone that fills the lacks of current UAV solutions. The construction of a drone connects advantages of both, flying and driving, machines. What does it mean? The capability of almost all-terrain movements like flying, perching, driving, climbing, vertical take-off and landing,” said the company.
