Sdz-mods managed to install a 3Dfx Voodoo4 GPU in a Dell laptop from 2013. More specifically, the ‘Voodoo 4 M4800’ project required swapping the processor from a Voodoo4 4500 AGP card onto a custom MXM board.
The Voodoo 4 M4800 was then plugged into the expansion slot of a 2013 Dell Precision M4800 laptop, which is more than capable of handling the power and cooling needs of the 3Dfx graphics card. With this creation overclocked to 192 MHz with 64 MB of RAM, it easily scored 2,035 points on the 2001 3DMark benchmark. In other words, it’s what you can expect for a top-end VSA-100 chip. Unfortunately, there are some issues with the overclocking, due to the lack of a VSA BIOS.
