Introduced at Gamescom 2024, the Samsung Odyssey 3D gaming monitor offers an immersive glasses-free 3D experience, complete with Eye Tracking and View Mapping technology.
Special glasses are not required because Odyssey 3D makes use of light field display (LFD) technology, which creates lifelike 3D images from 2D content via a lenticular lens on the front panel. Eye Tracking basically monitors the movement of both eyes using an integrated stereo camera, while View Mapping continuously adjusts the image to enhance depth perception. Aside from seamlessly switching between 2D and 3D modes, Odyssey 3D will be offered in 27” and 37” sizes. Both are 4K resolution displays with a rapid 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time and a high refresh rate of 165Hz. Available later this year with pricing yet to be announced.
