Paramount has been sending out real Sonic 3 movie SEGA Genesis cartridges that actually work on the original console to press and social media influencers. When inserted, you’re greeted with a splash screen and then options to choose from viewing the movie’s characters, posters, as well as a mysterious ‘Unlock’.
If you choose ‘Unlock’, an animation of Shadow the Hedgehog chasing Sonic appears and eventually this leads to a new option appearing, ‘Trailer?’. When selected, a 11.25.24 is revealed for when the new trailer is dropping. The ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ film is slated to be released in theaters on December 20, 2024, with Jeff Fowler returning as the director. Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, and Idris Elba all reprise their roles, with Krysten Ritter as well as Keanu Reeves joining the cast.
