KUXIU S2 First MagSafe Solid-State Power Bank
KUXIU S2 is a 5000mAh MagSafe-compatible power bank that’s been marketed as the “world’s first” to use a semi-solid-state battery. What sets it apart from standard power banks? They reduce fire risk compared to lithium-ion batteries with flammable liquid electrolytes. Kuxiu says the S2 still works even after durability tests like being punctured, dropped, or exposed to fire.

The S2 is said to keep steady performance after 1,000 charge-discharge cycles with hardly any wear, possibly lasting twice as long as regular lithium-ion power banks. Kuxiu claims it’s a 200% performance improvement because of its charging efficiency, though the exact details aren’t clear. It supports 15W wireless (Qi2) and 20W wired charging, giving about 1.2 iPhone charges.

Solid-state batteries are seen as the next big thing for things like electric vehicles and smartphones because they hold more energy, are smaller, and are more eco-friendly. The S2 is a move toward using this tech in small, everyday products.

If it can scale, this tech could lead to safer, longer-lasting, and more efficient power banks, setting the stage for use in phones, laptops, or even electric vehicles. It’s a big deal as an early user of this in-between tech, but fully solid-state batteries are still the ultimate goal. Available now directly from KUXIU, priced at $79.99 USD.
