OPT100 Neo Film Camera Digital Film Roll
Opt! created a tiny digital camera that resembles a classic film canister. The OPT100 Neo Film measures 47mm x 25mm x 25mm and weighs only 25 grams, making it ideal for sliding into a pocket or attaching to a keychain without drawing attention to itself. Available in multiple variants of the original Kodak style, including the iconic black and yellow combo, white with a bright orange flash of color, and some eye-catching multi-colored patterns reminiscent of vintage film packaging.

To take a photo, simply press the part that sticks out on top; this is the same part that ordinarily holds the film roll in place. The side controls allow you to switch to video mode or go through your previously taken shots. The back display isn’t big, but it’s more than good for framing your photographs, reviewing what you’ve captured, and playing with the settings. One end has a tiny lens, and just above that is a tiny little flash that comes in help when trying to capture a photo in poor light.

  • Support photo taking and video recording
  • 4 frames and 7 filters available in photo mode
  • 1440 x 1080 image output; 1.6M megapixels

A 1-megapixel CMOS sensor produces quite high-quality images at 3760 × 2128 pixels. The video isn’t as crisp, coming in at roughly 0.3 megapixels, however some merchants claim the resolution is 1920 x 1080 at 30 frames per second with sound – we’re not convinced about that. A fixed 3.2mm lens is used for focusing, and it can see objects as close as 20cm and as far away as 70cm, making it ideal for everyday use. Shutter speeds are also rather fast, ranging from 100 to 300 milliseconds, and the camera’s ISO is 1500 or 1600, which is plenty for a little camera like this.

There’s a little slot on the side for microSD cards up to 32 gigabytes. Photos and movies are saved as standard formats, allowing for easy transfer. The USB-C port is also multifunctional, as it can be used to recharge the camera as well as to connect it to your computer or phone. The battery life is around one hour, and it takes two hours to recharge.

The OPT100 Neo Film was released in Japan in December 2025 at a relatively low price of 5,940 yen, which is less than $40 to you and me. The problem is that it is still not widely available, at least outside of Japan. If you want one, you’ll need to have it shipped to you from a merchant or eBay. Just be aware that the price may be little more than in Japan.
