Jetpack Aviation is currently developing Speeder, the world’s first flying motorcycle, and it’s powered by four jet engines fueled with kerosene, diesel, or Jet-A-fuel. The two planned models include an ultralight version that will fly at 60mph without requiring a pilot’s license and an experimental version that can hit over 150mph, but requires a formal license to operate. Both models will have up to 30-minutes of flight time, with a flight ceiling of 15,000 feet.
The company, owned by Australian inventor David Mayman, just went through YCombinator startup boot camp, and managed to raise $2-million to create a full-sized Speeder prototype, including a future version capable of hitting 400 mph. Modular wings mean that you can bolt them on / off depending on the situation, thanks to a small carbon fiber spar.
