Shopping for a new Jaguar F-Pace or Range Rover Velar? If so, you might be surprised to know that they are both getting innovative noise-cancelling technology to make driving more peaceful. It comes in the form of Silentium’s Active Acoustics technology, which utilizes sensors on each wheel to constantly monitor the vibrations from the road surface and calculate the opposite phase sound wave needed to remove the noise heard by passengers.
In addition to the sensors, these vehicles can also detect how many people are inside and where they’re sitting, so those opposing sound waves can be applied most effectively. Jaguar Land Rover claims a reduction of up to 10 decibels for ‘unwanted noise peaks’ and an overall reduction of 3 to 4 decibels. It will initially launch in the plug-in hybrid versions of the F-Pace and Velar, but roll out to their other vehicles soon, including the new Jaguar XF.
