AI CardMill Machine Pokemon TCG Sorting Kickstarter
Ever spent hours hunched over a table sorting through stacks of Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, or Yu-Gi-Oh! cards? Introducing CardMill, a device that takes this task off your hands, thanks to artificial intelligence.

CardMill is the brainchild of Jonathan Domanus, a software engineer and Magic: The Gathering player who got tired of wrestling with his own collection. After giving away a set years ago that he later realized could have been worth tens of thousands, Domanus returned to the game with a mission: make organizing cards faster and fun. His microwave-sized machine can scan and sorts up to 300 cards at a time.

Here’s how it works: Load your unsleeved cards into a tray and CardMill’s AI powered scanner gets to work, identifying each card’s name, set, foil status and other details with amazing accuracy. A rail system gently moves the cards into padded output trays, sorting them by your chosen criteria—alphabetically, by set, color, type or even market value, all because of real time integration with TCGPlayer. Every scanned card is logged into a digital library that you can access through a web portal from your phone, laptop or tablet.

Domanus, who runs a large Magic: The Gathering trading group on Facebook, built this for the everyday collector—someone with boxes of cards piling up, not a warehouse full of inventory. It supports six major TCGs: Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana, Star Wars Unlimited and Flesh and Blood. The machine’s touchscreen lets you customize sorting preferences and future updates will add features like deck syncing, insurance tracking and AI driven condition grading. Unlike industrial scanners that cost thousands, CardMill starts at $350 for early bird backers with no subscription fees.

CardMill uses recyclable parts, ships in plastic free packaging and includes teardown instructions to extend its life. The device has been tested with high value cards like the Black Lotus so it can handle your precious cards with care. One catch: you’ll need to remove cards from their sleeves before scanning which might slow you down if your collection is meticulously sleeved.

The Kickstarter campaign launched on June 10, 2025 and runs until August 19. It hit its $350,000 goal in 24 hours so it’s clear there’s a lot of demand for a product like this. Backers can expect deliveries to start in December 2025 with initial shipments limited to the US and international shipping to follow later.
