Man caves are nothing new, but rarely do you see one that actually resembles a cave. Andres Canto, a teenager from Alicante, Spain, had an argument with his parents one day and decided to get to work. So, he found a pickaxe and started digging. At first, it was just after his classes every evening, after classes, but soon, a friend joined to put in 14-hours of work per day.
What started out as a simple hole, soon became a lounge room and bedroom, thanks to a clever pulley system the teen implemented to remove the dirt. Arched entrances support the weight, while vaulted ceilings reinforced with columns and concrete walls ensure that it remains somewhat safe to stay in. In all, he spent around $60 USD on building materials, which isn’t bad for a small place with WiFi, electricity and even heating.
