Amazon Prime Air is about to get a lot more efficient, thanks to the next-generation MK30 delivery drone. This followup to the MK27-2 is smaller, lighter, and scheduled to go into service starting in 2024, making deliveries in both Lockeford (California) as well as College Station (Texas).
The MK30 boasts increased range, expanded temperature tolerance, safety-critical features, and the ability to fly in light rain, which means customers will be able to choose drone delivery more often. Since they fly hundreds of feet in the air, Amazon Prime Air drones are generally quieter than the sounds in a typical neighborhood, but new custom-designed propellers reduces that noise further by 25%.
