Amazon Q was announced today at AWS re:Invent 2023 in Las Vegas, and it’s essentially a generative artificial intelligence-(AI) powered assistant designed specifically for businesses or work scenarios. It enables customers to get fast, relevant answers to important questions, generate content, and take actions.
This AI chatbot was trained on 17 years of AWS knowledge and experience and can be accessed through a conversational interface directly from the AWS Management Console, documentation pages, their IDE, over Slack or other third-party chat apps. Aside from answering questions, the assistant can also take actions on a user’s behalf through a set of configurable plugins, whether it be creating service tickets or notifying particular teams in chat apps.

AWS is helping customers harness generative AI with solutions at all three layers of the stack, including purpose-built infrastructure, tools, and applications. Amazon Q builds on AWS’s history of taking complex, expensive technologies and making them accessible to customers of all sizes and technical abilities, with a data-first approach and enterprise-grade security and privacy built-in from the start,” said Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian, VP of Data and Artificial Intelligence.
