Apple fan Scott Yu-Jan wanted the flexibility of the M1 Mac Mini, but also the portability of a MacBook, so he came up with a portable solution of sorts. We all know that a portable Mac Mini has never been released, so the only solution is to build one, and that’s exactly what Scott did here using a 3D-printed enclosure that perfectly holds an iPad Mini 6. How do these two devices connect to each other? Using the duet Display app.
The Duet Display app allows the Mac Mini to output to the iPad Mini at full Retina resolution, all the while still retaining the touch function on the iPad Mini. This means that the only external input device needed is a Magic Keyboard, which easily fits in a backpack. As you can see, this mashup probably isn’t better than a standard MacBook Air, but it’s most certainly a conversation piece nonetheless.
