Archer Aviation partnered with Anduril to develop a hybrid VTOL military aircraft, and received $430 million in additional equity capital today. Participants in this funding round include Stellantis, United Airlines, and several new institutional investors, including 2PointZero, a subsidiary of UAE’S largest listed entity, IHC.
Archer’s latest eVTOL aircraft, the Midnight, can transport up to four passengers as well as one pilot, travel up to 100 miles on a single charge at 150 mph, and reach an altitude of 2,000 feet. It comes equipped with 12 electric propellers – 6 tilt-propellers with five blades for forward / VTOL flight and 6 fixed propellers with two blades for VTOL-only flight. Its tilt propellers are designed to spin on axes aligned with the oncoming air flow, which ensures low noise levels.
