Bellwether Volar eVTOL Flight Testing
UK-based startup Bellwether Industries announced that it has recently completed the first untethered test flights of its two-seat Volar eVTOL prototype in Dubai using a half-scale model. This prototype flew to 13-feet and managed to hit 25 mph. The production model will measure approximately 10.5-feet wide and designed for intracity travel with seating for four to five adults. It will take a few more years of testing before it hits the skies in 2028.

Once the production model is ready, it’s expected to cruise comfortably at an altitude of 3,000 feet and achieve a top speed of 135 mph. As for the battery, it’s purported to have a 90-minute flight time on a full charge. A maximum takeoff weight of 1,320-pounds should be plenty for passengers as well as some light luggage.

A lot of the problems we have is the vehicle doesn’t look like an aircraft, so when people see it, they don’t see how it could work or how it could fly, but it’s real,” said Kai-Tse Lin, COO and co-Founder of Bellwether.
