Believe it or not, the long awaited Atari VCS is more powerful than anticipated, as it allegedly can run Cyberpunk 2077 without even using a streaming service, like Stadia or GeForce Now. Gamer Kevin Kenson discovered that the included Windows 10 OS needed quite a few features disabled as well as settings tweaked before being able to play the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077. One caveat: the framerate is definitely not something you want to be looking at for hours on end.
The Atari VCS is powered by a semi-custom AMD processor, AMD Radeon graphics and includes one “Classic Joystick” controller based on the single-button design of the Atari CX40 joystick, adding only additional inset buttons for accessing the console’s menus, along with LED lighting. So far, three editions have been announced, including one inspired by the original Atari 2600, another in red / black colors with a glass front panel made of glass, and the Tribute Edition, which is the collector’s edition except without the individually serially numbered plaque.
