Some have been waiting for a Concorde successor ever since the airliner was retired on October 24, 2003, but that day may soon be here. Boom Supersonic CEO Blake Scholl states that his company will offer $100 flights to various destinations worldwide aboard their Overture aircraft in just 4-hours. It can seat between 65-88 people, depending on the configuration, and will focus primarily on the 500 transoceanic routes that can take full advantage of its Mach-2.2 speeds. What does this speed translate to? How about A journey from New York to London would in a mere 3 hours and 15 minutes. Now the $100 flights most likely won’t be offered right away, as it will take 2-3 generations of aircraft to get the costs down, but considering a journey aboard the Concorde would have cost you $20,000 with inflation, it may be well worth the wait.
