Boston Dynamics Atlas 2.0 Humanoid Robot Backflip Holidays
Boston Dynamics’ Atlas 2.0 recently got a pair of claws, but to celebrate the holidays, the humanoid robot effortlessly performed a backflip while wearing a Santa Clause costume. This feat is achieved through its custom battery and one of the world’s most compact hydraulic systems.

Atlas utilizes advanced control algorithms to help plan complex whole body movements while accounting for the environment, or in this case, performing a backflip on a small cushioned floor area. Titanium and aluminum 3D printed parts ensure it has the strength-to-weight ratio necessary for acrobatic moves.
