Boston Dynamics Retires Atlas Humanoid Robot Evolution
Boston Dynamics announced today that they will be retiring their Atlas humanoid robot platform after nearly 10-years of development and progress. This robot featured dynamic manipulation that allowed it to use both hands and its full range of motion to interact with the world in meaningful ways.



Unlike other humanoid robots, Atlas utilized dynamic models of it self to predict how its motion will evolve over time, while depth sensors enabled it to see its surroundings. Featuring 28 hydraulic joints and a frame made of titanium, aluminum, as well as 3D-printed prints to give it the strength-to-weight ratio required for leaping purposes.
