Boston Dynamics Spot Robot Dog Underground Kidd Creek Mine
Kidd Creek Mine is located 9,600-feet underground in northern Ontario, Canada. Metal, copper, zinc and silver are mined in one of the deepest mines in the world, closest to the center of the Earth. This large operation requires large equipment, which means lots of things to inspect on a regular basis. However, humans must keep some kind of distance from hazards, and that’s where Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot dog comes in.

Currently, the mine uses traditional styles of robots, which include wheels on sticks, to get them up close and personal with the things that need to be inspected. Spot is fully capable of passing anything that is normally left, without any real special care to make it accessible. Plus, it boasts the distance and duration necessary to put the people at Kidd Creek Mine very far away from a hazard, while still getting the information they need.
