Aside from being an uncompromising track-only hypercar, the Bugatti Bolide also has the largest carbon-carbon brake system produced by Brembo yet. For comparison purposes, it’s on par with the technology that found in LMh/LMDh and Formula 1 vehicles.
Its carbon-carbon brakes incorporate two eight-piston monobloc calipers, both equipped with four high-performance 25mm pads and 390×37.5 mm carbon discs, while the calipers are machined from aluminum alloy and nickel coated. Out back, you’ll find two six-piston monobloc calipers just like the front with four high-performance pads, but slightly thinner at 24.5mm. Power comes from a quad-turbocharged 8.0L W16 engine making 1,825 hp and 1,365 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Developing the brake system for the Bugatti Bolide was a unique and very exciting challenge for the Performance Division of Brembo – and we are proud of what we achieved. We had to reengineer the entire system to cope with the incredible yet demanding characteristics and power of the car. The front caliper, for example, is a real masterpiece of engineering in my view, being the largest we have ever fitted to a racing car,” said Mario Almondo, Chief Operating Officer of Brembo Performance.
