BYD has partnered with DJI to release Ling Yuan, a $2,200 vehicle-mounted drone system that consists of a storage compartment and an on-board positioning module handle. The included drone (DJI Air 3S) can perform a dynamic takeoff / landing while the vehicle is moving at speeds of up to 15.5 mph (25 km/h) and can follow at speeds up to 33.5 mph (54 km/h).
When the drone is running low on battery, it automatically returns to the storage compartment and can power up from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. A free app will let users edit footage and give them the ability to snap photos while the drone is flying around the vehicle. For now, Ling Yuan supports the BYD Yangwang U8, Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8, Fang Cheng Bao Tai 3, Denza N9, BYD Sealion 07 DM-i, and BYD Tang L.
