DJI Drones Save Orangutans
DJI is using their drones to help save orangutans, but not in the way you may be thinking. These mammalian relatives share 97% of our genes and face a dire situation as their habitats are rapidly vanishing due to deforestation.

So, the OFI Orangutan Foundation International team set out to Borneo. Field researchers traditionally had to trek through the forest, looking up through thick foliage for signs of an orangutan nest, to conduct an orangutan census. Now, the DJI Matrice 30T thermal drone helps them detect and count orangutans directly. This results in several advantages including improved accuracy, faster results, reduced costs, lesser environmental impact, and safer conditions for researchers.

DJI Drones Save Orangutans

If successful, this project has the potential to revolutionize not only orangutan counting methods but also to serve as a model for efficient counting solutions for other endangered species,” said Olivier Mondon, DJI Marketing.
