Overview
The first thing you’ll notice is the sturdy packaging, and inside, you’ll find the Power Cube, a microUSB cable, carrying pouch, as well as a special Ingress MOD card pack if you’ve got one of the first 8000-units. Our unit came fully charged, and we were able to quickly start charging our gadgets. There are two, 5V/1A and 5V/2.1A, output ports, with the latter being for quick charging, along with a 5V / 1.6A microUSB port for recharging the device itself. For those worried about over-charging, rest assured that a special microchip will automatically shut the unit off if the device isn’t compatible. With that said, straight away, you’ll notice the awesome color-changing paint job, but once you plug something in, the light show begins.
Size wise, it’s slightly taller than an iPhone 6 Plus and can fit snugly in a pocket, or comfortably inside your bag, at 6.1(L) x 2.8(W) x 0.7(H) inches. Once the unit is powered up, the center cube lights up in six various patterns that can be changed via a button on the side. There are many other 12,000mAh units we’ve come across that claimed to charge something a certain number of times, but this one lived up to its promise, and managed to recharge our iPhone 6 Plus four times without a hitch.
