Astronauts will eventually use lunar regolith to build structures, but Clear Drop’s Soft Plastic Compactor (SPC) lets you turn plastic bags into bricks at home. The ultimate goal is to solve the problem of soft plastics and the issues with sorting this material at recycling facilities.
Simply place all of your soft plastics (bags, packaging, etc.) into the SPC to have them all compacted and sealed utilizing the melting properties of the material itself. A brick of compacted soft plastic can then be placed in your recyling bin or dropped off at a facility, where it can then be easily disassembled and put in the standard recycling process. These soft plastics do not need to be separated and / or cleaned. Most importantly, the SPC does not release any toxic chemicals into the environment.

Currently, only a fraction of what we consume is recycled, mostly due to the physical properties of plastic and organic materials and complicated sorting.
