Clone’s Torso 2 is being touted as the most advanced android robot yet, and after seeing it in action, we most certainly agree. We have a feeling that it’s only a matter of time before we see real-life versions of Ash, Bishop, Call, David and Walter from the Alien movies.
As you can see in the demo, this isn’t your typical robot with stiff unnatural movements, but rather a human-like feel. It accomplishes this using artificial muscles designed to mimic their human counterpart, contracting and expanding to create fluid, natural movement. There are a total of 910 muscle fibers, 164 degrees of movement, and 182 sensors for feedback control in this prototype, enabling Torso 2 can perform a range of motions that were previously impossible for robots.
