Snazzy Labs know that the Mac Mini is small enough, but not quite the portable machine they expected from Apple. So, they decided to make it even smaller by 3D printing a custom case and rearranging the hardware components. More specifically, they had to separate the original logic board and wide IO shield, while relocating the WiFi antennas turned out to be the most time consuming part of the project.
Now the original power supply is an entirely different story, as that component alone takes up most of the case. This meant that Snazzy Labs needed to find a way to get a MagSafe connector working when paired with a much smaller Microsoft Surface power supply. In the end, all of the new parts fit inside the custom 3D-printed case, although they couldn’t quite get the cheese grater Mac Pro look they were going for. Let’s just hope that the Apple Mac EVO becomes a reality sooner than later if the Mac Mini Mini never gets an official release.
