DARPA has just unveiled Atlas, which is touted as the world’s most advanced humanoid robot. It features an integrated real-time control computer, a hydraulic pump w/thermal management, 28 hydraulically actuated joints, Carnegie Robotics sensor head with LIDAR and stereo vision, and hands built by iRobot, along with Sandia National Labs.
