DOOM Voxel Mod
This new DOOM Voxel mod basically replaces all of the game’s 2D sprites with 3D voxel-based models, giving them a sense of depth, thus enabling you to view them from various angles. It was created by a developer named ‘Cheello’ and was a painstaking process to transform the 2D pixels into 3D cubes, as many of the DOOM source ports just would not render them.

However, this isn’t a standard version of DOOM, but rather GZDoom, so it’s not compatible with the DOOM Path Tracing Mod. What’s next? We’re hoping for a DOOM II Voxel mod or at least this same one with added Path Tracing, although the latter would require ‘Cheello’ to work with ‘Sultim-T’ for both mods to work seamlessly. More information here. Unfortunately (or fortunately), you won’t see DOOM Voxel running on a McDonalds kiosk.

An absolutely stunning achievement. I feel like I can finally enjoy GZDoom’s vertical look feature without compromise. This mod has incredible detail, authenticity, and care put into each voxel. It breathes so much life into the game while remaining true to the original sprites,” said one early reviewer.
