Double Decker Bus House Conversion
A family of eight from Arlington, Texas transformed a double decker bus into a luxurious house on wheels for a 2-year trip across the country. They plan on staying at each location in the lower 48 states for around 2-weeks before flying to both Hawaii and Alaska for some more adventure. It took them 2-years to completely renovate the tour bus, but all that work paid off, with each of their six kids having their own private space.

The toughest part of this entire process has been downsizing from their 2,000-square-foot home into 458-square-feet of living space on a tour bus. This also meant selling off many of their unneeded things, such as toys, electronics and other gizmos. If cross-country trips in a bus just aren’t your thing, Japan has the Dual-Mode Vehicle (DMV), which is the world’s first bus-train.

And we realized that, you know, what we really wanted was time together,” said Dane Eyerly.
