Unreal Engine 5 was officially released this week, and alongside that was “The City Sample,” a free downloadable sample project that showcases the city scene from The Matrix Awakens. It basically consists of a city, complete with buildings, vehicles, and crowds of MetaHuman characters, demonstrating how the improved systems in Unreal Engine 5 create the experience. AJ Gaming wanted to see how The City Sample runs on high-end PC with an Intel i9 12900K CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 GPU, but surprisingly, there were some issues, especially since fps hovered between 30-50 FPS. Fortunately, CPU utilization seemed quite low on average, but then again, it appeared to be running at 1440P, and not 4K. Want to try it out? Here’s a link to a mirror site to download the demo.
