EvoLogics Quadroin is essentially a penguin-inspired underwater drone that can explore shipwrecks autonomously. It’s powered by four electric thrusters in the rear that enable the robot to dive to a maximum depth of 492-feet and reach a top speed of 11.5 mph.
For longer expeditions, it can transport up to 6.6 pounds of equipment while a six-hour charge should be good for up to 10-hours of continuous runtime at a cruising speed of 4.5 mph. A pair of full-HD underwater cameras, one forward-facing at a 45-degree angle and one downward-facing—equipped with dimmable LED lights, provide the operator(s) with a clear view of the drone’s surroundings. EvoLogics’s proprietary AI-powered object recognition module allows it to detect objects in the side-scan sonar and video feeds live during the mission. There’s no word yet on pricing, but you can contact the company for live demonstrations.

The hardware and propulsion systems were redesigned with next-generation components for optimal performance. The Quadroin now features a Nortek Nucleus1000 integrated subsea navigation package that couples Nortek’s DVL technology with additional position-aiding sensors for reliable vehicle control,” said EvoLogics.
