Toyota’s Trumpet Playing Robot

Toyota expands their line of musical robots robots — designed to entertain and “function as assistants” for the elderly — with this trumpet playing model.

Violin Robot

Standing 5-feet tall, this violin-playing robot, developed by Toyota, features 17 flexible joints and mechanical fingers. Unfortunately, it won’t be put into practical use until 2010.

Haile – The Robot Drummer

That’s right, this intelligent robotic percussionist — developed by college students — can listen and respond to a human drummer in real-time, along with improvising new rhythms.

Saxaphone Robot

Japanese researchers have developed the world’s first saxaphone-playing robot, which is capable of playing highly complex pieces such as John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps”.
