Framework Laptop 16 (2025) RTX 5070
Frameworks’ new Laptop 16, the 2025 model, powered by NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 graphics and AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 Series processors, aims to be a machine that evolves with you.

Framework makes updating this laptop as easy as opening a desktop tower. The new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics module is the star of the show with 8GB of GDDR7 RAM and 30-40% more gaming performance than the Radeon RX 7700S module. If you own the original 2023 Framework Laptop 16 you can add this $699 module to your existing laptop to give it new life. If you prefer AMD, the Radeon RX 7700S is still available for $449 with enhanced cooling.

AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 Series CPUs bring significant processing power boosts. You have two options: the 8-core Ryzen AI 7 350 or the 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, both running 45W thermal design power. These come with powerful integrated graphics—Radeon 860M for the Ryzen 7, Radeon 890M for the Ryzen 9—capable of handling light gaming or creative tasks if you don’t use the discrete graphics module at all. Want to max out the system? Two DDR5-5600 slots can hold up to 96GB of RAM and two M.2 slots can hold up to 10TB of storage. The mainboard was updated to support four simultaneous display outputs via the back USB-C ports.

All this power requires a lot of juice and Framework delivers with a 240W USB-C charger—the first of its kind for laptops. This tiny adapter supports USB Power Delivery 3.1 and keeps the 85Wh battery from draining when you’re maxing out the CPU and GPU. The thermal system got a refresh too with Honeywell phase-change material and new fan blades that reduce noise while maintaining 100W of total graphics power for the RTX 5070. And yes, that 16-inch, 2560×1600 display now has NVIDIA G-SYNC for smooth visuals at 165Hz, 500 nits and 100% DCI-P3 color accuracy to make everything look amazing.

Beyond the swappable graphics and mainboard, it has six hot-swappable Expansion Card slots—three on each side—so you can choose from USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet, audio or even tiny SSDs. Need more storage? Pop in a 250GB or 1TB Expansion Card. Want a different port setup for a specific project? Swap them out in seconds. The keyboard and input deck are modular too, with options like a numpad, macropad or spacers to arrange things your way. Framework even updated the keyboard firmware to prevent accidental wake-ups when the lid’s closed and added new designs without the Windows logo for Linux fans (though there’s a Copilot logo option if that’s your thing).

  1. Judging by the thickness of this machine, it looks like it dates back to before the 2000s.

Considering its price, which is €3,000 with an RTX 5070, but without an SSD, RAM, or OS, one can only say that we’re unfortunately being taken for idiots… ;-(
