Revealed today at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, the sleek Genesis X Gran Equator Concept shows the contrast between analog architecture and digital technologies. It seamlessly combines Genesis’ iconic “Athletic Elegance” look with the tough, adventurous feel of overlanding.
From the outside, we can immediately notice its unconventional proportions for an SUV, with a long hood (almost a third of the vehicle’s length), a sleek cabin, and a sloping “fast” C-pillar that gives it a wagon-like silhouette. It rides on massive 24-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in knobby all-terrain tires, emphasizing trail-ready capability while a split-opening tailgate includes pop-up chairs for campsite use.

Genesis hasn’t confirmed the powertrain, but multiple sources suggest it’s fully electric, based on the absence of a front grille, a fully enclosed underbody for better aerodynamics, and the brand’s commitment to electrifying its lineup. While technical specs (like chassis type, unibody vs. ladder frame, or drivetrain) are undisclosed, Genesis claims the X Gran Equator is “engineered to perform in extreme conditions” with “true off-road competence.”
The interior is a standout for staying away from oversized touchscreens, but instead, sporting a central infotainment screen with four small circular digital dials in the center stack, inspired by vintage camera lenses or classic off-road gauges . These are controlled by eight physical buttons below, handling navigation, off-road info, vehicle setup, and audio.
