Google’s DeepMind Technologies Inc. has artificial intelligence systems that can beat the world’s top Go players as well as old video game, but now, it has managed to teach itself to walk. The goal of this project was to simulate movement as a test for new machine learning techniques, or to be more specific, “flexible and natural behaviors that can be reused and adapted to solve tasks.” Some of these AI agents were trained as human-like bipedals, while others as four-legged animals.
