Honda Ashirase Navigation Visually Impaired Blind
Honda makes cars, business jets, motorcycles, ATVs, and now, a navigation system for the visually impaired. Called Ashirase, this system consists of a smartphone app and a three-dimensional vibration device fitted with a motion sensor that is attached inside the shoe. After setting the desired route on a smartphone, the device vibrates to provide navigation. When you need to straight, the vibrator positioned on the front part of the foot vibrates, and when the user is approaching a right or left turn, it then vibrates in that direction to notify them.

The directions provided by Ashirase allows for intuitive understanding of the route, therefore enabling the user to keep their mind on other things, which makes it possible for them to walk more safely in a relaxed state of mind. Guidance information is automatically generated based on global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning information and data based on the user’s foot movement.
