Honor MagicPad 4 Thinnest Android Tablet
Honor has just launched the MagicPad 4, the world’s thinnest Android tablet at a mere 4.8 millimeters thick, excluding the minor camera bump. This surpasses the previous MagicPad 3 by a full millimeter and slips under the 5.1-millimeter mark set by devices such as the current iPad Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S11 series.

The engineers who designed this tablet managed to achieve that slim profile while still getting the weight down to 450 grams, a decent reduction of about 145 grams compared to the MagicPad 3. Clearly the smaller dimensions and a switch to OLED screen tech played a big part in getting that weight down without sacrificing all that much.

The MagicPad 4’s screen is 12.3 inches, a slight decrease from the 13.3-inch screen on the previous model, but on the bright side, they’ve switched to an OLED display, which significantly improves black levels, contrast, and color vibrancy over the old LCD. The resolution remains at 3000 x 1920 pixels for excellent detail, and a refresh rate of 165Hz ensures that all scrolling and animations run smoothly. Of course, peak brightness with HDR video reaches a stunning 2400 nits, so the MagicPad 4 should be easy to see in strong sunshine.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 flagship chipset delivers respectable performance thanks to being manufactured on new 3nm technology. It comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, or you can choose a lower capacity option like 12GB/256GB in some markets. All of this means that the MagicPad 4 can multitask effortlessly and handle demanding programs without missing a beat.

The battery capacity is 10,100 mAh (down from the previous model’s larger battery), however the OLED screen and more efficient chipset compensate for this. When you need to recharge the battery, it can fast charge at 66W with the included charger.

The MagicPad 4 has eight speakers calibrated for spatial audio, which makes a big difference while watching movies, listening to music, or even making a video chat. The camera system is rather basic, with a 13MP rear shooter for casual photos and a 9MP front camera for video calls, but that’s about it. In terms of software, the MagicPad 4 runs MagicOS 10, which is essentially Android 16, and the good news is that you can expect prolonged OS updates for the next six years, which is a huge advantage.

Finally, the MagicPad 4 features all of the connectivity options you’d expect, including easy pairing with both Android and iOS devices. There are magnetic pins for attaching accessories such as a keyboard case or stylus.
