Hear some buzzing while shopping for furniture pieces? It might be an IKEA drone stocking inventory. IKEA partnered with the Ingka Group to develop a fully autonomous drone solution to track inventory as well as improve the wellbeing of its co-workers on the warehouse floor.
As of today, there are 100 autonomous drones deployed in 16 different locations to improve stock accuracy and to secure availability of products for online and physical retail stores. To see them in person, you’ll have to head to either Belgium, Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, or Switzerland. Ingka Group hopes the revamp more IKEA stores around the world to improve their handling capacities.
