Instagram made its users quite frustrated with an unexpected update that made its timeline feed scroll from left to right, instead of the traditional vertical format. Apparently, the head of Instagram announced that the change was meant to be a small-scale test, but a backend mistake caused it to roll out to a large number of users. “That was supposed to be a very small test that went broad by accident. Mosseri added that the app, which averages more than 1 billion monthly users, is constantly testing new experiences but that Thursday’s change went to “a few orders of magnitude more people than intended,” with some comparing it to when Snapchat redesigned its stories experience. However, if you’re still seeing the updated horizontal-scrolling version of Instagram, simply force close the app and relaunch it again for the ability to scroll vertically as normal.
