Ion Propulsion Drone Silent Ventus
Undefined Technologies’ ion propulsion drone, called “Silent Ventus,” takes flight, and it essentially utilizes proprietary technology harness the ion cloud surrounding the craft to generate high levels of ion thrust in atmospheric air. Currently, the company is working on their next prototype, which aims to achieve longer flight times and keep noise levels below 70 decibels.

Around 5-months ago, Silent Ventus completed a major milestone by achieving a significant increase in lifting power as well as mission time. The company’s drone technology uses innovative physics, which means it’s viable to use ion propulsion in atmospheric conditions with superior performance of up to 160% compared to current ion thruster technologies. Who knows? We may one day see a version of this on the Moon, alongside Lockheed Martin and GM’s lunar rover.
