Many iPhone and iPod Touch users who were trying to download and/or update apps last night received the dreaded iTunes Error 5002 message. If it’s the former, simply “go to iTunes Preferences, then the Store tab, and select ‘Buy and download using 1-Click’ instead of ‘Buy using a shopping cart.'” Unfortunately, if you’re having troubles updating, the only solution is to make a backup of everything on the device and then re-sync.

Another (Mac OS X-specific) flavor of the 5002 arises if there are permission errors in or around the iTunes Music folder.
