
Jay Leno is no stranger to odd movie cars, and now he can check ‘The Wraith’ off his shortlist. A total of four Dodge M4S (Midengine, 4 cylinder, Sport) prototypes were made between 1981 – 1987 and all of them were designed to achieve a top speed of 200 mph.
Power comes from a Chrysler twin-turbocharged 2.2L four-cylinder engine making 440 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, enabling it to hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds. The vehicle was designed by then Dodge chief designer, Bob Ackerman, but the actual construction was handled by subcontractors, including Huffaker, which made the semi monocoque race car chassis.
